Thanks, everyone, for your quick response to my query concerning the
Great Wall of China. Read below for the many, helpful responses received!
I've simply cut and pasted; hope this is the acceptable way to "post." :-)
________
With the naked eye not really-with enhancements from optical systems
yes-- they can photograph a golf ball from reasonable altitude!

the great wall of china can be seen from outer space. it can not be seen
from the moon. the information is available in the nasa homepage. my lis
505 teacher(dr. corrine joergensen) was talking about that in class
recently.

This site will show you radar images from outer space of the Great Wall. It
also says that contrary to popular myth, the astronauts did NOT see the wall
from the moon.

Seems like I've read that also--
Guiness Book--
space books?
It's a BIG structure--
if they can pinpoint ancient caravan routes in Arabia,
why can't they see the Great Wall?
sounds good to me.

Yes it is visible. Unfortunately I do not remember the sources that
quoted/showed that several years ago. In 1992 my family and I traveled to
the Great Wall - about 1 1/2 hours out of Bejing. The wall is really a site
to experience --- and they had Coke for sale right on the wall.

Subject: Re: GEN: Great Wall Visible?

It is one of the few man-made structures that can be seen with the naked eye
from space.

Subject: Re: GEN: Great Wall Visible?

It is my understanding that the Great Wall of China is the only manmade
structure on earth visible from the moon. I have nothing to substantiate
this.

For what it's worth...
