Dear Peter and all, After reading the recent updated guidelines I found myself "guilty" of a long signature. 17. Long signatures are discouraged. They may be humorous the first time, but get old quickly (and take up valuable net bandwidth and computer space). Some folks tire of the time spent having to skim over them. 2-5 lines should be sufficient to include any necessary information. However some time ago it was suggested that we add information about our operating systems so that it would make it easier for the techies among us to answer computer questions . That said, please note that I have "tightened up" my signature. Jo PS_ A signature anecdote: a few weeks ago I sent a letter to a state legislator asking for her support on a Library appropriations bill in the Assembly. She responded to my school address (part of the signature) and invited me to a meeting of Library advocates in her office. It was a very educational experience. -- ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Josephine Dervan Library Media Specialist Strathmore Elementary School Aberdeen, New Jersey, USA 07747 Home-rderva@injersey.com School-jdervan@marsd.k12.nj.us PC/Windows95, Netscape Communicator 4.0/Netscape Mail "Anyone who has a library and a garden wants for nothing"- CICERO =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
