The Wisconsin Educational Media Association (WEMA) announced the 1999 Golden Archer Awards. The Archer Awards are unique as the children of Wisconsin both select the nominees and vote for their favorite in one of three age categories: Primary, Intermediate and Junior High. The books chosen can be fiction or non-fiction. Over 15,000 children voted this year. The winners are: Primary - Hallo-Weiner by Dav Pilkey: Intermediate - Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger by Louis Sacher; Junior High - Brian's Winter by Gary Paulsen.
