Warning!!! This is a non-library question: If your school offers AP courses, is it selective? In other words, are students specially selected? If so, what selection criteria is used? Do students fill out an application? And, if so, how do you use that application once it's returned to you? Do teachers recommend students? I have been told that it is illegal to have students fill out an application and that it is also illegal to keep students out of AP who want to take the course. We have offered AP courses for 15 years and have always required the application process. I have also been informed that an AP English teacher cannot make students fulfill the requirement of summer reading because it is not during the school year. Please reply to me directly. Thank you for sharing your process.
