Originally(4 years ago) we used very expensive headphones with our computers.
 However, their "life expectancy" was not worth the purchase price.  So we
began using cheap headphones (the type used with personal stereo cassette
players) that we could purchase at the dollar store.  These seem to last just
as long if not longer  plus replacing them is easy and inexpensive.
