When I worked in elementary I found a way to 'peddle' some of the non-fiction books. At the beginning of each class, 1 student would give a report (Book Beat) on a book they had read. It lasted 1-2 minutes and they told their favorite part. They could also show pictures if they wished. Of course there was usually a run on this title or others that were similiar so when they would do non-fiction it was interesting. I also would pull out poetry books, space, etc. and read the most interesting/scary, etc. passage out loud up to the point of what happens next? Read it and find out. Usually checked out a bunch of those as well.
