Peeling barcode labels

Can anyone tell me a brand of barcode label that will stick to hardback
books?  We are using Winnebago labels and barcode protectors and they
are peeling off faster than I can replace them.  It is not a problem
with bindings that have a slick coating, like Permabound or Chelsea
House,  just the trade bindings.  I thought it was just the protectors
peeling off and pulling the labels with them, however the unprotected
labels also peel off.  When we bought professionally printed labels, we
had no problems.  Now we are printing our own labels and this is just
the pits!  TIA :)
