Actually, videos presented in widescreen are in their original format.

erent than those of a
television, so when movies are made to fit a TV screen, up to 25% of the
picture is actually cropped out. By selecting widescreen versions, you
are getting the 'whole' movie. I personally think they are a better
choice, particularly for classic musicals, etc.

Man, I never get into these things, so I'm surprised I'm doing it now. As
much as I don't like the Giving Tree myself, I do think that it's hard for
us as adults to remember how a child would approach this story. Once we've
passed those barriers of childhood, some curtain comes down and, in our
adultness, we are rarely allowed past it again. We start seeing stories
through jaded eyes and applying typically adult slants to them. Then we
start to worry about what we are teaching our kids by reading that story.
While I agree that you can teach some things unconsciously by repeatedly
presenting stereotypes, etc. to children, I think that most young children
are going to see this story as being about generosity. That would not
convince me to read it aloud, since I don't like it myself, but I don't
think it's going to do them irreparable harm.
