Colleagues, Look at the sad news I just found : KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) -- Shel Silverstein, the author of such acclaimed children's books as ``A Light in the Attic'' and ``Where the Sidewalk Ends,'' was found dead at his home early today. He was 66. Silverstein was born in Chicago and began his career as a writer and cartoonist for Playboy in 1952. He was discovered in his bedroom. The cause of death was not immediately known. He will be sadly missed. I enjoyed so many of his silly poems (especially "Sick" and the one about Sarah Sylvia Stout...who would not take the garbage out), and just spent a whole week reading them to children, who also loved them. When I was in 4th grade, my student teacher would read us a poem a day "if we were good". Sigh.
