Gen: school rules

Living in England, and working at a private school with relatively
small problems, I will admit to being out of touch.  What would happen
to a Middle School student who brought an air pistol (BB Gun) to school
 (unloaded, maybe) with the intention of harming another student?  What
if his intention was just to appear macho?  What happens to students
who bring knives to school?  Does the type of knife matter?

What happens to students (again, Middle School) who are caught with
small quantities of pot?
