Dear Friends, Glassboro is a small district of 2200 students. There are five schools, and four librarians. The librarians get together three times a year to discuss our concerns and problems. Today we had a meeting and the others asked me to ask you-all a few questions. The first one is: do the school libraries in your district all receive equal amounts of budget money? We used to get a certain amount of money per student. Now we get what ever our principal decides. The high school gets $10,000. Jr. High gets $3700. Upper elementary gets $6000. Lower elementary (me!) gets $1000. We would like to go back to the per student amount. Even though the reference items at the high school level cost more, the books at the elementary level get used harder. If you have a moment, please copy the questions below, paste them into a message addressed to me, add your answers, and send it. I will post a hit if you want. 1. What state are you in? 2. # of students in district 3. # of schools 4. are your school library budgets equal? if yes, answer #5 and 6 if no, thanks!! 5. equal amount per building, or per student? 6. and what would that amount be? Thank you !!! Karen DeFrank, LMS Dorothy L.
