I was just accepted as part of a team to the Teaching Steps to Tolerance workshop this summer in Los Angeles. We need to develop a literature based lesson on tolerance to bring back to our school. I am looking for suggestions. The lesson will be taught at the 6th grade level. We would like to focus on tolerance towards kids who are "different" - not just racial and ethnic differences, but kids who just don't seem to fit in. Maybe this was prompted by the shootings in Colorado. Does anyone have some good book suggestions? Thanks.
