Kathy, I do not work for AR but I must let you know that AR WAS NOT developed by a book publisher. It was started by a mom at her kitchen table for her kids. Her husband, an early computer user, wrote the program after the neighborhood kids went to school talking about how much fun they had had that summer. One thing lead to another......If you look at the earliest disks you will see that the tests for were for outstanding, classic older titles. That is the reason I hopped on it in the early days because I hoped it would get the kids reading some of those older books. AR has recently developed newer, longer tests for literacy information. It groups the questions by critical analysis, inferential thinking, initial understanding.....and the kids get various questions, like EB. However, with the new AR the teacher gets a report that lets them know in what areas a child is deficient. I'm looking forward to getting that loaded so I can run the teachers through it this summer. It looks promising.
