The advice below was sent by Kathryn Frech...Thanks to her!!! Liz K. _____________________________________________________________________ Referring to my copy of the 4th ed. of the MLA Handbook (1995): "When included in parenthetical references, the titles, of the books of the Bible and of famous literary works are often abbreviated (1 Chron. 21.8, Rev. 21.3, _Oth. 4.2.7-13, _FQ 3.3.53.3)." (p. 199) I can't find a reference for citing the Bible in a bibliography, but the example we use in our school Research Paper Handbook (which we based on MLA style as much as we could) is: _Catholic _Study _Bible. New American Bible. New York: Oxford University Press, 1990. That is: name of book, name of translation, place, publisher, date. Hope that helps! Kathryn Frech, Librarian Seton Catholic Central H.S.
