I take a bit of a stab at this. On 14 May 99 at 20:42, earl sande wrote: > The topic has final come up : Cowboys! I"ll pass this on to Joseph Miller, the Editor of Sears... I hope he'll chuckle. But, If he takes it seriously, you just might see these See refs in the next edition <grin>. > > > > Please, please, who's ever responsible for the DD# : if we can have > collective numbers for Motion Picture Actors and Actresses, Clowns, can we > have a definitive "Cowhand" number? Well, since we do have a see reference, if you have the reference cards in your file, you could send them to Cowboys... and the card would have 'See Cowhands' <groan>. If you knew what we went through to make the job names non-sexist..... And now we have to put them back???? For those who are automated, a sophisticated system would allow 'Cowboys' in the Subject field of a search, and automatically switch you to 'Cowhands'... and search and retrieve the records. Or, you could change the Subject 'Cowhands' on all your cards and use 'Cowboys' instead. And keep changing it as you got new books. (Don't mention to Joseph that I said this.... ) > > Earl > Earl Sande > (e-mail : sandes@afsat.com) > > Thanks for your comments. They are always welcome. Dan Robinson Indexing Services H. W.
