If you need authors, publishers, etc. just go to my library search site at: http://birchlane.davis.ca.us/catalog/dbw1.htm Type in baseball, click on subject, hit search and you will come up with these titles and a few more. *************************************************************************** * Upstart, the library theme product magazine, has many ideas about the baseball theme. *************************************************************************** * A poetry book you want to consider is "That Sweet Diamond: Baseball Poems" by Paul B. Janeczko. I used a couple without the titles and had students write titles for them and determine what was being described. The major league baseball teams have web sites - I use the Seattle Mariner Spring Training web site for lessons each Spring http://www.majorleaguebaseball.com/springtraining/sea.sml You should be able to find one like Milwaukee - near you. Maybe you could have a minor league team communicate with your students - email or penpals or ask for signed pictures, etc. *************************************************************************** Another good book is Baseball Math: Grandslam Activities and Projects for Grades 4-8. Published by GoodYearBooks/ScottForesman, Glenview, IL. The book is 9.95 and if you can't afford for the entire group at least get one for you. Has some great ideas such as measuring distance around bases, figuring out losses and gains on baseball card trading, scheduling games, calculating earned run averages, etc. *************************************************************************** One more still to come!
