For a long time, I have been reading postings about Channel 1. I disagree
with Sonya Boyd. I think that Channel 1 should not be in our schools.
Our children are subject constantly to commercals. By allowing channel 1
into our schools, we are selling their minds in order to get a few pieces of
equipment. Maybe we need to work together to reform our educational system
so that we can get proper funding. Maybe we should all be working for tax
reform so that schools are properly supported and that every child has a
school library to go to each day. The people behind channel 1 did not stop
with commercials and television. These people are the very same people who
push the takeover of our public schools by private corporations. They
support vouchers so that public money can pay for their for profits schools.
Maybe some of the librarians and teachers who lost their jobs because of
the commercialization of our schools would like to write to their
representatives and tell them what it is really like out there.
