Standing orders/Political Research

I am wondering if anyone out there has had any experiences with Political
Research from Dallas, TX.  I have had a standing order with them for their
monthly and annual publication of Taylor's Encyclopedia of Government
Officials.  When I tried to cancel the standing order, the first week in
May, I was told that the deadline for cancelling was April 30th.  I then
faxed an intent to cancel and soon after received a phone from a Mark
McGuire informing me that cancellation was impossible at this point and that
his lawyer would be calling mine!  Has anyone else had any problems
cancelling standing orders with this or other companies?
