Last night, I approached the PTO about contributing to the purchase of some audio books for the library. I would like to purchase required classroom novels on tape. The PTO suggested that we have students record the books instead. That way it won't cost so much. I see many problems with this approach but I mentioned that it may very well violate copyright laws. I am hoping someone out there more knowledgable than I about such things can let me know if I am worrying needlessly. Is it ok to have students and/or parents record a book on tape and put it in the library collection? Thanks for your insights.
