In addition to Johanna's citation, there is another guide to writing for publication ('writing AND publication' makes a good search strategy in the databases) from Phi Delta Kappa: A brief guide to writing for professional publication Henson, Kenneth T Phi Delta Kappa Fastbacks. no437 '98 p. 7-42.
