Spackenkill Union Free School District is seeking a certified Library Media Specialist for a tenure-track middle school opening. Spackenkill is a growing district of approximately 1700 students enrolled in two K-5 elementary schools, one 6-8 middle school, and one 9-12 high school. It is located along the Hudson River, midway between New York City and Albany. Qualified candidates must possess strong organizational skills, and be able to undertake the definition and development of the new library currently under construction to make it central to the school program. Our middle school has recently begun the automation process, and plans to be fully automated with Dynix Scholar by June 2000. Strong technology skills are essential. A good candidate will possess curricular and professional skills necessary to work collaboratively with a creative middle school staff, as well as with the three librarians currently employed in the District. Superior candidates will understand the unique needs of the middle school child, and be competent at teaching classes, as well as interacting individually with students. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by teacher contract.
