Thank you for letting me lurk on this listserv. I have learned so much just reading. I am extremely fortunate to have applied for and received 2 grants to buy computer hardware and library automation software for our library. Although we are a public library, we also serve the entire school district and coordinate carefully with them. That is why this list is so great. I am just getting ready to set up the Windows NT network administration part and get to decide how to assign usernames and passwords, groups, permissions, profiles etc. Soon we will be getting our library automation software. We will either be using Alexandria (our first choice) or Winnebago Spectrum (our second choice), depending on how they answer the technical document we sent them. Both of these have a password structure also. I am looking for advice on setting up Windows NT to take full advantage of its security features, but yet not make it a nightmare for a patron or staff to log in and use the OPAC, Internet, and circulation stations. Would love to hear from anyone who can tell me either how to do it, or how not to do it (or how you would do it over if you could).
