My principal has given me permission to close the library for two weeks this
year so that I can do a much-needed inventory, but closing puts a
significant strain on teachers in this private school who depend on my
classes for their planning time. I have heard that some librarians with
dependable volunteers do inventory bit by bit during the regular school
year. Could those of you who have tried this share hints with me,
particularly how you deal with books that are checked out while inventory is
being done? I have a good cadre of volunteers (and very supportive
colleagues, too!) I'd like to support them as well as I can, if it is
possible for me to do an inventory during the year without it being a real
hassle.

Thanks in advance.
