Survival in the first year

Dear LM_NET'ers:
     I will be beginning my first year in the fall as a media specialist in
a middle/senior high school.  I will be working with another experienced
media specialist (YEAH!).  I am also completing my last course for my MLIS
Degree.
QUESTION: Do you have any tips/words of wisdom/musts for those of us who
will be starting out fresh in the fall?
     I will be compiling a survival guide for myself and my classmates. Who
better to ask but all of you?
     I will be searching the archives, so if there has been a prior thread
on this subject, I will retrieve those messages.
     I will post a hit if there are any requests.
