For an 8th grade class studying Antigone, a teacher wants the students to do some paralleling reading. I need titles of young adult novels (reading level grade 5-10) in which the protagonist finds that what is morally right is at odds with what is legally correct. Titles I have so far include "The Chocolate War" and "I Am the Cheese" (Cormier), "Summer of My German Soldier" (Green), "The Giver" (Lowry). Would you please include a brief synopsis and the full author name with your recommendation. I will be happy to post a HIT if there is interest. Thanks!
