Wow!! Once again, you people are AWESOME!! Within 5 minutes I had two replies, and two more within 10 minutes. My original post: > Please help!! > I have a student who is looking for a story he read in his English textbook > in high school. It is about a story where a man is walking through a town, > and notices that people have on ugly masks, or weights on their legs, etc. > The idea in town was to make everybody equal, so if you were beautiful you > wore an ugly mask, and if you were a good athlete, you wore the weights. > But, of course, if you saw someone with an ugly mask, you knew they were > beautiful. Does this ring a bell with anyone? We don't even know how to > look it up. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I'll post > the answer. The answer: "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut, found in _Welcome to the Monkey's House_. Special thanks to Susan, Jon, Elizabeth, and Beverley.
