GEN: Robinson Crusoe theme film

There is an English teacher on my campus who is trying to locate a
commercial film (made about 10 years ago) which had an updated Robinson
Crusoe theme. For example, he remembers that Friday forces Crusoe to
confront his own prejudice.  Unfortunately, he does not remember the name of
the film or the actors.  It was not Robinson Crusoe.  We have checked
several of the film databases on Internet under such related titles as
Marooned, Shipwrecked, Island, Crusoe, etc.  No luck.  We also checked for
general Internet sites on Robinson Crusoe films, and also we searched many
video catalogs.  He really wants to find this.  Can any of you help?
