Dear Group: I would like to thank Cheryl and Lynn for their messages concerning reasons to continue purchasing encyclopedias in print. It was requested that I post any responses received, so here they are: 1. The majority of responses were in favor of purchasing a full set of encyclopedias. Opinions were focused on the need to be able to accomodate a larger group of students than could use any computers at one time; special need students might not be able to use the computers; students need to be practicing the skills that are involved in using print encyclopedias. The cost of the sets and the fact that so often a couple of volumes are missing are factors in not purchasing print encyclopedias. 2.More than one student can use at one time; backup for system outages; children should learn how to navigate in print; organization is sometimes easier to follow; information can sometimes be found quicker than a computer. Thanks again! Karen =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
