Over the last few weeks I have received several questions about my book "reviews". 1. The comments are of books which I have purchased for my middle school library (grades 5-8). You find out why I do not put reading levels on them by looking at my web page. 2. I do not consider these comments as formal book reviews -- they are just short comments as information for other people to assist them in selecting books. I do write formal reviews for one (and maybe two journals shortly.) The opinions are soley mine and do not always agree with other people or sources. 3. I initally joined LM_NET many years ago for discussions about books and found little of it so I started commenting on a really great book periodically when I read it. I received so many positive responses that I now comment on all the book I read for my library. Hopefully it has helped people or given them reason to think. 4. I read all fiction books before I place them in my library. This is done so I can help students select books. It also means that the books trickle in during the year instead of having a huge pile of new books in September. ----------- Frederick Muller Halsted Middle School Library 59 Halsted Street Newton, NJ 07860 voice (973) 383-7440 ext.229 Fax (973) 383-7432 My Book reviews are compiled at: http://www.halsted.org/br.htm =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
