I recently asked LM_NETers the following:

"I've got a 4th grade teacher who will soon be working with her class on a
paper airplane unit. I've searched the archives and Internet and haven't
been able to come up with any curriculum ideas or additional
information/resources. You're my last hope. . . . Any suggestions?"

Here are the compilation of responses I received (dupliations deleted) and
thanks to the following people who were so incredibly helpful in pointing m=
e
to some fabulous resources:
Martha Taylor, Belinda Holbrook, Barbara Braxton, Richard R. Shook, Faith
Van Putte, Maryjane Krajnak, Ruie Chehak, Pamela Berberich, Josephine
Dervan, Carol Harma, Meg Schimmels, Vicki Wright

I have a series of web pages on flight. They cover a wide range of topics.

The main flight page is:
http://www.stemnet.nf.ca/CITE/flight.htm

The space shuttle page is:
http://www.stemnet.nf.ca/CITE/spaceshuttle.htm

The new kites page is:
http://www.stemnet.nf.ca/CITE/kites.htm

Have a look in at The Greatest Paper Airplanes
http://www.khs.com/khs/aboutgpa.htm

The sites are focused on paper airplane modelling, so they are very hands o=
n
friendly. The first site is
http://www.onenorthpole.com/ToyShop/paperairplanes.html It was a colourful
one which may attract students. It has lists of essential things you will
need and also some optional materials. The step by step instructions are
easy to follow and there are links to take you to sights to make mobiles an=
d
kites. Both these sights have instructions which children can easily follow=
.

Another site which may be useful is
http://www.geocites.com/CapeCanaveral/1817/ There are links to the histor=
y
of paper airplanes, museums and to the Guinness Book of Records site which
students may be interested in.

One last site is http://www.best.com/~jpalmer/Airplane.shtml where there
are some more step by step instructions for making model airplanes, these
are very easy to follow.
