Did you make a terrible mistake by leaving?

Did any of you leave one school district in hopes of greener grass on
the other side of the fence, only to discover you had made a terrible
mistake?

In considering applying elsewhere my biggest fear is the following
scenario:   You apply for a LMS job for a school that is brand new.
Because you are experienced (15) years, you are the perfect person to
set up and establish a brand new library.  You cost more than a
beginning Librarian, but you are  experienced and worth it.  Two or
three years later you are not granted tenure (no reason is given, after
all you are not tenured they don't have to give you one!).  You later
find out you were replaced by a LMS fresh out of Library School.

Has this happened to any of you, or am I extremely paranoid?  Please
share your new job horror stories with me!

P.S. I lean towards staying put.  The Wichita Public Schools have been
good to me, especially by allowing me to have a part time contract.  If
it weren't for that darned block scheduling at the Elementary level!!!
