ELEM: Successful programs for low achievers

    Our school leadership team met this afternoon and learned we have
approximately $19,000  to use to help our low achieving students in grades
3 - 5 improve their test scores in reading and math.  That's great, but our
plan for using this money must be turned in by December 10th!  Our teachers
are already giving at least 110% on a regular basis, and we decided we need
a new approach.  We are brainstorming new ways of working with these
students...hiring tutors during the school day or after school,
restructuring the instructional program, investing in new program materials
for these students to use, finding new ways to motivate students to learn,
etc.  If your school has implemented a successful, innovative program or
purchased materials that really made a difference with your low achievers,
would you take a moment to share what worked?  Any suggestions will be
appreciated.  TIA for your help!
