I have used Perma-bound books for quite a few years and really like my sales
representative.  However, our system has started having problems with them.
Our coordinator of media resources mentioned several problems in orders she
had made over the summer.

I ordered a set of AR books from them early in September.  Although I had
received a quote from Perma-bound which included prices for cataloging
(shelf list card only) and MARC records and disk, the books were shipped
with no cataloging information and no barcodes or records.  It took them
over two weeks to issue a call tag for UPS to pick up the books in
mid-October.  Yesterday I received the corrected shipment and installed the
MARC records on the Athena program.  To my disgust, 13 out of the 34 records
were invalid.  Upon checking, I found that the company had reused barcode
numbers that had been used on previous orders with them.  I called my
representative who was out of town and faxed the list of records to his
secretary.

As of now I have been working with this order for three months and still
can't process the books so that the students can use them.  I plan to talk
with my representative as soon as he gets back in town to see if he can tell
what is going on.  I have always had a good relationship with this company,
but it seems that the main plant can't get their act together.

I would like to compile a list of comments on this company so that I can
forward them to my representative.
