The Saginaw Public Libraries in Michigan limit patrons to 30 items. You can only have up to 5 of certain items also (movies, cd's, tapes, books on tape). So you could have 15 books, 3 movies, 2 books on tape and 5 music cd's or any other combination. Our elementary school libraries in my district limit the kids to 1 book per library visit. I, generally, let the students check out up to 10 items. I have only a few kids who have that many things out at once. I have a few avid readers who have a few more than 10 items out.
