TARGET: combining elem and middle

After checking the archives, I am seeking the input of colleagues who have
considered combining, or actually combined, an elementary with a middle
school LMC.   We are developing a plan for the renovation of a K-6 building
which adjoins a 7-8 building (pop. approx. 500 each.)  Presently, each
building has their own center with full-time LMS.  A combined or semi-shared
is being considered.  The rationale for the change must have a direct
connection to the needs of students/staff as well as a vision of the future.

In your opinion, what are the pro's and con's of combining?  Any suggestions
re: what the program/facility should look like?

Your ideas would be greatly appreciated!
