I am compiling a list of YA titles (as well as "essential" adult titles
that YAs should read) for two different groups, 9th graders (14-15yr olds)
and 10th graders (15-16 year olds).

I have been perusing our shelves and all the "best" lists (YALSA, Editor's
choice, SLJ, VOYA, etc). The problem that I am having is that many of the
lists contain books that are really for 6th to 8th graders (with characters
who are 12, 13 and 14 yrs old, etc).

I have already included the following titles/authors:
Tenderness by Robert Cormier;
The Best Little Girl in the World by Steven Levenkron
Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers
Remembering the Good Times by Richard Peck (?)
Rats Saw God by Rob Thomas
Life in the Fat Lane by Cheryl Bennett

I would appreciate some recommendations of YA titles, both older and newer,
which you have found are of interest to 10th graders ( which have more
mature plots, older characters and/or depth, or whatever it is that makes
them willing/interested in reading this particular title).

Thanks in advance.
