There are two immediate openings for paraprofessional library assistants
to work in a unique and very busy high school library/education resource
center.

The Harcourt General Library serves Fenway High School and the Boston
Arts Academy, two of Boston's public pilot high schools. It also houses
the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Education Resource Center. Professional
development workshops for teachers are held in the resource center and
its collection of curriculum-related music, visual arts, theatre and
dance materials is available to educators statewide who are interested
in the integration of the arts with the PreK-12 curriculum.

1. A part-time library assistant position, funded by the Boston
Symphony Orchestra, is available immediately. The library assistant
will work 20 hours per week (Monday-Thursday 2:00-6:00 p.m. and
Saturdays 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.), under the supervision of the school
library media specialist and will assist educators using the BSO
Education Resource Center and its materials. The library assistant will
also be responsible for Boston Arts Academy and Fenway High School
students using the library after school and on Saturdays. A background
in the arts and/or education, library experience, and proficiency with
computers is preferred.

2. The second immediate opening, funded by the Boston Public Schools,
is for a library assistant to work 20-30 hours per week, Monday-Friday,
during the school day (exact hours to be determined) with the school
library media specialist. The ideal candidate will have library
experience, a background in education, possess intuitive and adaptive
computer skills, be familiar with computer networks, be adept at using
online databases and the Internet, and be comfortable working with high
school students.
