Providence High School, a private Catholic, college preparatory,
coeducational school, with an enrollment of 550 students, has the
following opening for the academic year 1999-2000.  Providence High
School has been named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United
States Department of Education.

Position  Title:        Intern Librarian/Media Specialist

Reports To:             Librarian/Media Specialist

Purpose of Position:    To assist the Librarian, on a part-time basis,
in supporting the
                                school instructional program by
providing quality library services.  To become thoroughly familiar with
the Providence High School Library in order to be ready to assume the
position of full-time Librarian beginning with the 2000-2001 school
year.

Major Responsibilities:

1.      Works with Librarian on upkeep of fully automated Library,
including processing all new materials.
2.      Assists with selection of new materials in all formats.
3.      Provides student orientation to the Library for classes of
students
4.      Provides individual assistance to students with computers and
use of
      informational software, the Internet and word processing programs.
5.      Assists teachers by providing materials from the collection that
support
            topics being taught.
6.      Channel One Coordinator.
7.      Becomes familiar with policies and procedures for the effective
operation of    the Library

This position is part-time for the school year 1999-2000 and would,
after that time, if applicant proves qualified, become a full-time
position as Librarian of Providence High School, reporting to the
Academic Vice Principal.

The Librarian/Media Specialist holds faculty Department Chair status and
salary is based on the faculty salary schedule, depending on credits and
years of service.
