I read with interest the hit on ZapMe computers and, since I am expecting 5 in my modest library this year, got to wondering. Is it true that the folks at ZapMe insist on setting up email accounts with all your students? I don't encourage email use in the library, except for academic purposes, and most of our students have email accounts with hotmail or whatever already. Why do they need another email account? Am I to infer that ZapMe may inundate my students' accounts with advertising blitzes from their sponsors? I confess to being less than entralled, and I haven't even seen our computers yet. Believe me, I will keep our "old" Mac G-3's within easy reach if this doesn't work out.
