Thanks to all of you for responding to my inquiry regarding the permanent removal of library purchased materials because they are to be used in a reading assessment. Two of our elementary principals have been made aware of the situation and are very sensitive to the implications of removing library materials. The Library Department has asked for clarification on the issue and has been invited to the next literacy council meeting. I hope this a case of overzealousness on the part of a few people trying to do something good without having considered all the ramifications of their actions, and that no books for whatever reason will be removed. I will post another message as soon as it is clear what the intentions of the curriculum council and the literacy council and ultimately the administration are.
