Gen: The Mummy, con't.

A few days ago I asked for web sites that review movies for parents.  My
daughter is in sixth grade, and as a final activity for a unit on Ancient
Egypt the teachers were going to show The Mummy (1999) which is rated PG-13.
The kids brought home permission slipsdue to its rating and inappropriate
scenes. I decided to pull my daughter out of school, rather than let her
watch it.
I got about thirty responses and posted a list of seven or eight sites.

I printed out three different reviews for the principal, and told him my
daughter would not be attending school on Friday due to the movie. He
e-mailed me today and said five other parents complained and he watched the
movie himself and decided it was inappropriate.  The teachers suggested
Prince of Egypt as an alternative.  Hooray!

I am so glad to have LM_NET to use as a resource. The reviews I got from the
internet really backed up my disapproval of the film. The principal had them
before he viewed the film, and I think it made him realize how intense some
of the scenes truly are.
I know there are parents in the district who complain about many of the
activites, and the administration brushes them off as constant complainers.
It really helps to have resources to make a point!!
