In the course of working with all of my 5th grade classes on Native American
myths I have encountered a situation.
What exactly is the difference between a folk tale, myth and legend? Are
myths and legends considered folk tales? Where do fairy tales and tall tales
fit in? I have searched LM Net, encyclopedias, and dictionaries and still am
unsure of the differences. I guess I have never thought really about it
before, but now I am going to be evaluated on a lesson and we are going to
compare a myth and legend. I know that each probably have particular traits
and are on a continuum, does anyone have ideas or sites?
