Examining diversity in Reference Sources

Hi All,
   I'm about to undertake a challenging task of researching the
multicultural diversity represented by pictures in a reference source.
I'll need to examine the source page by page and graph my data. If
anyone has a suggestion of a source, other than the encyclopedias,
please let me know ASAP. I need to begin my research this week. This is
for an assignment in my referencing grad class.
   I'll be anxious to hear of your suggestions.
