Hello Netters,

I live in El Paso, Texas and the mayor, Carlos Ramirez, in this city has
decided that our public libraries should be privatized to run the libraries
more efficently and he has hired an outside company to review the libraries.
He has stopped the hiring of twenty employees and cut back the budget every
year. He boldly stated in a letter to the editor that libraries are not as
necessary because of the internet.

I am asking if you all have heard of what has happened to libraries that
have been privatized. I have heard that Follett does this kind of
evaluations and then takes the contract. This is who is rumored to do El
Paso's evaluation. Please Help!! I want to write a well informed letter to
the editor myself. I am currently searching on Lexus-Nexus.
Thanks,
