You've been such a great resource in the past, I hope you can help me now. For the first time in many years, we have a severely handicapped student = in our school (a combined middle school high school serving about 325 = students in grades 7-12). He is in a wheel chair 100% of the time. The = Library is 30+ years old and is a split-level construction (not handicapped= -accessible.) Circulation, Internet Access and the workroom are on the = upper level; all the books (Fiction, Non-Fiction & Reference) plus tables = for study and recreational reading are on the lower level. =20 It isn't possible to add a ramp for between levels without losing over = half my shelving for books. Does anyone know of a company that makes a = lift or small elevator that could be used to move a wheelchair from one = level to the other? If I could also use a book cart or AV cart on the = lift, it would be great! So far nothing has been said about library accessibility, but I'd like to = be prepared it comes up, and I'm sure it will.
