REF: Slave statistics before 1790

I have a teacher who wants to have his students graph slave
populations vs total population in the US from 1600 up through the
Civil War.  I was able to find census data starting from 1790.  Does
anyone know of any web sites with such statistics between 1600
and 1790.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
