First day with the children today. Third graders came in and the first thing they wanted to know was where were the Harry Potter books? When I answered that out two copies of each title were already checked out to fourth and fifth grade students--they informed me "You, know I've read them already." When I asked why they wanted to check out books they'd read so recently, they hemmed and hawed. Looks as though having a Potter book in hand is a status symbol at our school and saying you've read one (even if you are still struggling with Henry and Mudge)makes you look good. Anyone experiencing similar Potter phenomenon? -- Nancy Lieber Lower School Library/Media Specialist University School of Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI Nlieber@execpc.com or Nlieber@usm.k12.wi.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
