More responses came in. Here they are:

It's not really a monster book, but _Simon's Book_ by Dresher (sp?) is
always fun.

A couple that I can think of off hand. We have used them successfully
with PreK-1st grade.

The Hungry Thing (author escapes me at the moment)
The Hungry Thing Returns

Go Away, Big Green Monster! (Ed Emberley)

Go away big green monster by Emberley is terrific for that age.

One of my favorites is "TheFairy the Witch and the Magic Chicken" by Lester.
I like to think that the pickle on the chicken's wand is garlic dill.

There's another monster book that just came to mind. It's called Monster Mama.
Steven Gammel is the illustrator, I can't remember the author.

What about "Little Critters?"

Clyde Monster is THE best monster storybook for young readers I have ever
read. Likely no longer to be in print, I'd check with the public library for
a copy. I'm sure there are many more out there and you will here about them.
Consider a HIT if this pans out, please. (I did ;-), NSW)

Thanks again all,
