I have been discussing with one of our 9th grade social studies teachers the possibility of her classes doing a unit (or project) that ties into Banned Book week along with the English classes (The students will all have the same two teachers). The 9th grade social studies curriculum is Global Studies, and the first semester is Ancient History, but I think she's pretty flexible and willing to "move away" from the syllabus for a while. If your English teachers, your Social Studies teachers, and/or your English and Social Studies teachers together have done an interesting project related to Banned Books week (including censorship, First Amendment, Human Rights????) or if you just have any ideas, I would love to hear them! Thanks in advance.
