TARGET: Back-to-School Night Speech Material

I always address parents in the Back-to-School Night assemblies, and for
the past few years my short, informative speeches have been very well
received by parents because I have included either poignant or humorous
quotes: Richard Peck on reading, Groucho Marx's "Outside of a dog, a
book is a man's best friend; Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read,"
etc.  Now I have run out of amusing or poignant material!  Any
suggestions?  (Suggestions of any kind are welcome - books of current
interest to parents for a brief "book talk," e.g.
